This Trumpet Vine has taken over a fence to east-north-east of the jeep shown below. This fence delineates the eastern edge of the former deli's property.

Blossoms on the mint. This mint has volunteered itself along the south-eastern edge of the fence in my backyard. That corner smells lovely.

As promised, a close-up of one of the lantana blossoms on the plant which has volunteered itself on the east side of the house.
The irony is, I bought some lantana early last year, at a local farmer's market, and planted it in a plot on the south side of the house. That lantana never made it.
I've thought about taking a start from this plant to that same plot. Maybe I'd get a more favorable result this time.

This lantana plant volunteered itself on the east side of my house. It seems to thoroughly enjoy the 100° weather.
Detail tomorrow.

The next few days continue my fascination with the Rose of Sharon. This bud is growing on a bush in my back yard, along the fence line. I have not noticed this bush in previous years, which may partly explain my fascination with it.
It is a beautiful flower, as we will see in detail over the next few days. It's a name which figures prominently in the Biblical Song of Songs, and is the name of a character in Grapes of Wrath. Those associations also haunt me, in a manner of speaking.

I took this picture yesterday (26 July), along with many others, on the university campus where I work. You may see many of those other pictures posted below (posts 201-206).

I took this shot last Saturday (21 July); this bud may have bloomed by now. It will become a Rose of Sharon blossom.

This unfolding blossom looks so much like a blossoming rose, it's easy to see how this flowering bush got its name.
