This is the last entry for this blog. The intent of "Jonah 365" was to document one year, 2007, in words and pictures. Since the first five entries were text, it seems appropriate that the last entry be primarily text as well.

This is the 352nd entry - a few less than 365. As you may recall, I started this discipline eighteen days late. I played catch-up by posting diary entries for groups of days.

As I say, the first five entries were text; the remaining entries have been primarily photographic. The Blogger system encourages me to create "labels" (a.k.a., "tags") for each entry. A quick review suggests these are the top five:

I'd be remiss if I did not mention another one of my acknowledged obsessions: cats; there were 13 entries labeled "cat", 14 labeled "Cat Friday", and one labeled "cats".

My friend the Rt. Rev. Dr. Omed recently asked what I learned from this experiment. I learned it was physically possible to post at least one thing a day. I learned I could maintain the discipline, even though I tend to be a bit of a will-o-the-wisp. Though I tend to bounce from one means of creative expression to another as whim leads me, this year I focused primarily on photography.

Knowing that my goal was to post an image a day caused me to be more aware of my surroundings. As I drove back and forth from work each day, I would make a mental note of photo-worthy scenes. I made special trips to OKC's downtown on photo expeditions. I made special trips to local gardens and parks. I even made a three-hour drive to southeast Oklahoma for a fall foliage tour. All so I would have images to share in this space.

This blog space was dedicated to Project 365. In my mind, the goal has been to document a particular set of 365 days - the year 2007 of the Common Era. The blog will remain up so long as the overlords at Blogger see fit; it will not be up-dated after this entry.

I hope you've enjoyed the images I've shared this past year. I will continue posting images at my original blog-space, Love During Wartime. I hope you'll follow me there.

I shared a picture of this same cat two weeks ago. This is one of many cats around St. Crispin's.

This feline is especially friendly. When I shared this picture with a couple attending the same conference, the wife told me the cat had followed them on a little nature hike.

Hmm. A cat with species confusion, perhaps. It's an Episcopal camp, so we are quite tolerant.

This restaurant is on the northwest corner of 16th and Classen. It originally served Middle Eastern cuisine (note the mozarabic dome); if it is currently in business, it appears to be a Mexican restaurant.

The opposite side of the marker we saw at entry 291. The legend reads:

University Station was built on this site in 1904, and served Epworth University — Oklahoma City’s first university — now O.C.U. A trolley car stop and trolley lines were laid out close to the 16 block campus to encourage development of surrounding areas. From Main Street, passengers rode up Broadway, then west on N.W. 13 street to this station. Later, the Classen Line was extended north to Belle Isle, the same line continuing north to stops in Britton, Edmond, and Guthrie.

This marker and cast-iron silhouette mark "University Station", a trolley stop at the n.w. corner of N.W. 17th and Classen. It was built in 1904, primarily as a stop for Epworth University, which later became known as Oklahoma City University.

The altar flowers on the Sunday Bishop Ed was officially seated in his chair. A woman in our congregation felt the leaves strongly resembled a bishop's miter, and insisted a take a picture.

This is the last of the pictures documenting the events surrounding the Ordination of the Reverend Dr. Edward J. Konieczny as the seventh Bishop of the Diocese of Oklahoma (Episcopal).

This picture reminds me of the high-point of the service. At the announcement time, Bishop Ed asked his granddaughter to join him. She ran from the pew and jumped into his arms. Such blissful, joyful abandon!

Now, Ed is an ex-cop, and he can seem as dour and closed as the stereotypical cop. But once that young girl flew into his arms, you could see the warmth beneath.

The bishop sits in his cathedra, that is, "chair." A bishop is not a full bishop until he has his cathedra, and a Cathedral building is not truly a cathedral until the bishop has "claimed" his chair. It is a symbiotic relationship, if you will.

The new Bishop knocks on Cathedral Door. The final phase of "consecration weekend" was the Bishop's seating at the Cathedral. As per tradition, the new Bishop does not just barge in - he knocks. He uses the symbol of his office (a non-utilitarian shepherd's crook) to knock on the door.

His predecessor, Robert Moody, stood too close to the door and was knocked off his feet when the door opened. You might notice that Bishop Ed is prepared to step back, which he did immediately after he knocked.

No idea if this young woman's name is any variant of "Cat", but she seems very cat-like here. Relaxed, stretched out, and thoroughly comfortable within herself. Time for a little break from things Episcopal. After sharing recent Episcopal Bishops in Oklahoma, I thought I'd share this historic shot of a young Rt Rev Dr Omed. Dr. Omed is the Prelate, of sorts, of the Seventh Day Atheist Aztec Baptist Synod. Which, incidentally, claims no God, no guilt, no heaven.

This picture dates from 1987. We see the learned doctor in communion with a spiritual ancestor.

The Mennonites are radical pacifists, and Sadie and Moses have been very involved in OKC's peace movement. I imagine Sadie is talking to PB Katharine about the up-coming Spiritual Walk for Peace.

I made a point of introducing the couple to PB - although I had barely met her myself.

The High Altar at St Paul's Cathedral (Episcopal) in downtown Oklahoma City. There a number of challenges in taking a picture of the altar - light reflects off the marble altar (the marble was imported from Italy); the stained glass windows emit enough back light to throw off a light meter; and the surrounding dark wood absorbs most of the light provided by the six or seven spots. I resolved this by bringing in a pair of studio lights, using 100 ASA (slowest speed available in my Rebel), and closing down the F-stop.

The studio lights, by the way, are hidden behind the columns defining each side of the vaulted arch.
